MSF coordinates operations through collaborations between global offices. The ‘MSF Operational Centre Amsterdam’ (OCA) is a partnership that is composed of the partners MSF-Canada, MSF-Germany, MSF-SARA, MSF-Sweden, MSF-Holland and MSF-United Kingdom. MSF-OCA has a team of more than 11,000 staff working in 115 emergency projects in about 31 countries.
The office of MSF-Holland located in Amsterdam hosts more than 400 employees, offering direct support to MSF-OCA operations. Around 50 staff focus on recruitment, communication and fundraising in The Netherlands (MSF-Holland) and 350 staff are focused on supporting MSF-OCA operations.

The Logistics Department ensures the international supply chain - and provides logistics and technical support to the MSF-OCA medical humanitarian programs conducted in the various project countries (Field Missions).
The OCA Logistics department consists of several main units, including the Amsterdam Procurement Unit (APU) and the Field Support Unit (FSU). APU is responsible for sourcing, procurement and processing the orders for supplies from some 26 project countries in accordance with the Service Level Agreements. The FSU includes a wing centered around supporting the field missions in terms of Operational Logistics and Field Supply Support and a wing focused on Technical Logistics support.
With immediate effect our Logistics department is looking for a:
Coordinator Field Supply Chain Management Support (100%)
(Based in Amsterdam)
Main objectives of the position
Safeguards the quality and availability of field supply chain management support to OCA Operations.
Facilitates and supports operational supply activities and implementation of the objectives in accordance with the MSF-OCA Supply Chain Vision and Strategy.
Coordinates requirements and technical specifications and coordinates the back-office function of development and improvement of supply related standards and processes. Provides mentorship, proposes approaches and solutions to the operational supply teams across HQ and field levels.
Responsibilities and activities
In the role of Coordinator Field Supply Chain Management Support you provide leadership regarding the development and implementation of field supply policies, and guidelines and learning and training modules. You support and facilitate the implementation of the Logistics Functional Strategy and annual plans regarding field supply chain management. You line-manage the HQ based field supply Advisors and the “Flying” supply support staff (who are 70% of the time deployed to the field missions) – approx. 9 FTE. You set priorities and coordinate the workload division including resource planning with regard to flying support staff.
You actively participate in the logistics department leadership team and coordinate cross-functional/ organisational collaborative interaction within and among teams and fora involved with field supply chain management. You ensure connectedness and pro-active follow-up with regard to transversal issues.

Candidate Profile
We are looking for a hardworking, flexible and reliable group leader. You have at least 5+ years’ work experience in a coordination function in logistics / supply management in the field or in a relevant position in supply chain management in HQ, with MSF or similar international organisation. (MSF internal candidates will be considered with priority). You have experience in leading, motivating and developing the performance of complementary teams.
- Higher vocational education/degree in a relevant field of expertise.
- Deep understanding and extensive experience with supply chain management in the humanitarian context.
- Proven team leadership and ability to work in a cross-functional inter-disciplinary manner is crucial. This includes strong communication- and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in English (speech and writing). Knowledge of other main languages spoken in the field missions is an advantage.
- Experience with project management is an asset.
- Good digital literacy (MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point); knowledge of UniField is an asset.
- You are organized, quality-oriented and result driven.
- Willingness to travel to the field missions for up to several weeks at a time.

We Offer

A Dutch employment contract based on 40 hours per week. The contract is for one year with a renewal option (subject to satisfactory performance).
A gross monthly salary in scale 7 with a current salary range between € 3,638 and € 5,195 depending on relevant work experience, based on a full-time appointment.
